Charter schools are public schools authorized by the State of Rhode Island to operate independently from many state and local district rules and regulations. As a result of this flexibility, charter school operations are allowed to pursue innovative educational strategies designed to meet specific student achievement goals and objectives stated in their charter.

Title I Schools
A Title 1 school is designated, under state and Federal requlations, as being eligible for participation in programs authorized by Title I of Public Law 103-382. A School-wide Title I school (highlighted) is a school program where all students in a school are designated, under state and Federal requlations, as being eligible for participation in programs authorized by Title 1.
